Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups Boiling Water
  • 1 cup McCann’s Quick Cooking Oatmeal
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Margarine/Butter
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1 3 /4 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup Chopped Walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Cherries (chopped)

Preparation

  1. Pour the boiling water over the oatmeal; let stand for about 10 minutes.
  2. Add the sugars and margarine/butter. Stir until margarine/butter melts.
  3. Add the eggs and mix in well.
  4. Mix in flour, baking soda and cocoa.
  5. Now add about half the pack of chocolate chips and mix in.
  6. Pour batter into greased and floured 9" x 13" baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle walnuts (if used) and remaining chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 40 minutes approx. or until a skewer inserted in center comes out clean.
